Black Sox 15 Cobras 8

Sunrise Park, Vancouver - The East Van Black Sox defeated the Chinatown Cobras 15-8 in a high-scoring affair. It was opening day for the Cobras, while the Black Sox had played the EVBL Ringers on Friday.

Both offenses were strong in this one as the Chinatown Cobras fired it up in the first inning with two runs. After a Jason McBride single brought in a run, the Black Sox knotted the game up at two in the bottom half of the first inning, when an error scored a run. The Black Sox blew it open with five runs in the fifth to pull ahead 12-5. The Cobras pulled to within 4 in the top of the sixth but the Black Sox answered with three of their own to ice the game.

The Black Sox totaled 15 hits in the game. Jason McBride and Mike Biskar each collected three hits to lead the Black Sox. Keanen Buckley, Ringer 2, and Mick McDiarmid also had multiple hits for East Van Black Sox. Glen Eisler had four RBIs. Paul Jones led the Cobras with two hits in three at bats.

Jason McBride got the win for the Black Sox going three innings, allowing two runs on one hit and striking out four. Mike Biskar and Mick McDiarmid entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the victory in relief. Jarad Beckett took the loss for Chinatown Cobras, allowing five hits and six runs over three innings, striking out two and walking one.
